Colton Kyle believes in leadership anchored in listening, action grounded in empathy, and policies shaped by real people. Born and raised in Petawawa, Colton has a deep understanding of the unique issues facing residents and brings experience in community engagement, and is committed to transparency, accessibility and evidence based decision making.
Colton Kyle's Leadership
Colton currently owns and operates Kyle and Sons Professional Home Services. He has experience working as a security guard, a ski instructor, a downhill race coach, and a health and safety representative. Colton has been an active volunteer in the community for much of his life. having volunteered with the Ottawa Valley Food Co-op, the Local Immigration Partnership Lanark-Renfrew, with Deep River Geekfest, helping maintain trails at the Petawawa Terrace, and the Sensory Santa event hosted by the Petawawa Accessibilty Advisory Committee. He is also currently on the board of directors for the Killaloe & District Housing Inc
As a proud resident of Petawawa Colton has seen what our community can do when working together for a better future. With his experience Colton will bring a community driven lens to policy making. Colton has regularly offered grounded and accessible commentary on the local issues through letters to the editor in the Eganville Leader, and the Pembroke Observer. If elected Colton will prioritize transparency, data-driven decision making and consultation with the public.
Biography
Colton grew up a small hobby farm in the area raising chickens, chopping endless amounts of firewood, and helping his father make maple syrup This gave him a deep respect for the land and natural beauty of the Ottawa Valley.
He spent much of his time growing up outdoors and playing sports such as hockey, downhill skiing and soccer. Despite being initially hesitant at skiing, Colton eventually began to teach people of all ages how to ski at Mount Molson and would drive across the Ottawa Valley coaching for the local downhill race team. He attended General Panet high school and received his certificate of Occupational Safety and Health through the University of New Brunswick in 2015. Colton's first attempt at running in an election was in elementary school at General Lake for student council.
Working as a home inspector, Colton has the unique opportunity of meeting and speaking to people who are moving to Petawawa and the surrounding areas. This gives him the chance to hear why people are moving into the area, what they love about it or what they would like to see improved. Colton makes sure to set aside plenty of time to give back to his community through his volunteerism. Not only does he enjoy meeting new people, it is a very humbling experience to see all the work that goes on behind the scenes. Colton understands that living in a rural community many of these events would not happen if not for the countless volunteer hours of work planning, setting up, and running these events.
When not working Colton enjoys reading , kayaking and canoeing on the Petawawa and Ottawa rivers, playing Dungeons and Dragons, playing chess, and spending time at the Petawawa Library.
